Our Story

Over the last 40 years, Wedgewood has grown from a small, independent community pharmacy to become the nation’s largest and most trusted provider of compounded veterinary medications.

Today, Wedgewood is the largest US veterinary compounding pharmacy, serving over 70,000 vets and one million animals yearly.

Our growth has been driven by our unwavering dedication to partnering with veterinarians to support their success, and it is their trust and collaboration that have propelled us forward. Our formulary contains more than 46,000 medications, and we are constantly improving and innovating to ensure that even the most unique animal can receive the right medication, in the right way, at the right time.

A legacy of care since 1981

A legacy of care since 1981

Our story began when pharmacists George and Lucy Malmberg opened a small community pharmacy in suburban New Jersey. The married couple initially focused on equine medications, but their practice quickly expanded to include companion animals, exotic pets, and even zoo and aquarium animals.
Blue Rabbit: a new era for veterinary services

Blue Rabbit: a new era for veterinary services

In 2023, our merger with Blue Rabbit marked a significant evolution in our services. Veterinarians told us they needed an online pharmacy with world-class customer service, access to both compounded and commercial medications, as well as diets and preventatives—all the pharmacy items their clients would need. So, we built it. Blue Rabbit provides a PIMS-integrated, fast delivery, online pharmacy solution that supports veterinary practices' efficiency and profitability, helping them provide excellent care.
